Joe Maddon and Mike Evans may have just met a few days ago, but the Cubs skipper was so impressed with the Bucs wide receiver that he helped kick off the launch of his new Mike Evans Family Foundation. Evans wanted to know if he could play center field.

It was a little bit of a throwaway line but this quote from Theo Epstein underscores what the team still thinks of Kyle Schwarber and/or his trade value: "He's always been someone teams have had interest in, I guess, but we probably have the most interest."

Jesse Rogers ESPN Staff Writer

Theo Epstein discussed the Cubs meeting with Shohei Ohtani which included Joe Maddon and pitcher Kyle Hendricks. At the end of the day, being in in the NL, without the DH, probably hurt the Cubs chances as much as anything but Epstein was proud of his team's efforts to lure him to Chicago.
