Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany thinks colleges are "taking a welcome, deep breath" with realignment. "The amount of change and the timeframe of the change is hard on everybody," Delany told ESPN.com on Tuesday. "It's hard on conferences and institutions. It's hard on the public. I'm not predicting there will be another spasm of change. I quite honestly hope things stay as they will."

The quarterback derby at Rutgers has one less competitor now: Tylin Oden has been dismissed from the program for a violation of team rules. The sophomore played in six games last season and was once considered a potential starter for the Scarlet Knights, but that opportunity is definitively gone now. "We wish Tylin nothing but the best in his future decisions," coach Chris Ash said in a statement.

Rutgers has high hopes for redshirt freshman Ahmir Mitchell, but the wide receiver is going to be on the shelf for a while after tearing his ACL on Saturday and undergoing surgery. Chris Ash announced the injury on Tuesday and indicated that Mitchell could potentially return in time to play this season.
