Day 2 of the ELEAGUE Premier playoffs continued with more quarterfinal action in the ELEAGUE G-FUEL Arena in Atlanta on Wednesday. For the second day in a row, both teams blanked the opposition in 2-0 sweeps, with FaZe Clan and North advancing to the semifinals.

FaZe gives NV the boot

Coming into the series, NV were certainly feeling good about having overcome Ninjas in Pyjamas in the losers side of Group C to make it into these playoffs. Being matched up against FaZe Clan is a bit different than facing NiP, however.

Given that FaZe is one of the best and most expensive lineups to date, NV certainly had its work cut out. NV put up a tough first half on Nuke for the offense to keep the ESL One New York champions, FaZe Clan, on its toes. Eventually, however, FaZe had a firm defense and managed to finally break the tie to take the first half with an 8-7 lead. FaZe Clan then came out red hot in the second half to thrash the NV defense for seven consecutive rounds to earn map point. While Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer rallied NV to five straight rounds, FaZe bounced back to take Nuke 16-12.

Happy came up huge once again for EnVyUs in Game 2 of Overpass with a last-second kill against a FaZe defuser to earn the pistol round win for a quick start. However, FaZe came right back on the eco round to even the score 1-1. From there, it was all FaZe Clan to hold the line for a massive 13-2 score at the half. FaZe continued its reign of terror through the second half to pick up the second pistol and an anti-eco round before NV finally got one on the board. It was then time for the newest member of FaZe, Olof "Olofmeister" Kajbjer, to shut down the NV defense with a triple kill to secure the series sweep for a spot in the semifinals where it will go up against North.

North to top the Danish Derby

The second series of the day went down between two of Denmark's finest with North and Heroic going head-to-head on Overpass. North kicked off the series with a stern 3-0 defensive lead before Heroic made their mark on the game. At that point, Heroic struggled to get past the defense of North, which was led by Rene "cajunb" Borg, who remained composed on the AWP to take a 10-5 lead going into the second half. A two-round start in the second half, including Andreas "MODDII" Fridh's impressive smoke defuse brought the deficit to 10-7. However, North came rallying back to win six straight thanks to cajunb's 1-vs-2 clutch on the post-plant hold to take Game 1 16-7.

The series then shifted over to Mirage where North picked up two aggressive offensive rounds to start. Then, Heroic finally stuffed the North economy with four straight to seemingly take some control of the match. It managed to get the score to 5-3 before North wrestled back full control to take the first half 9-6. Cajunb once again came up big on the defense with his AWP to continue pushing hard in the second half in what ended up as a lopsided 16-7 win for the Danes of North. With a 2-0 sweep certainly giving the team full confidence, North is coming right at FaZe Clan with a head full of steam.

With the semifinal matchups locked in, all that's left is for the action to unfold in Atlanta. Cloud9 and Astralis will kick off the day at 2 p.m. ET, with FaZe Clan and North following directly after.
