Jim Boeheim on Matthew Moyer: "He's been horrible all year. Horrible is being nice. He was terrific tonight. I think he can build on this."

Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer

Jim Boeheim: "I don't think any two teams are going to put as many people in the Garden as [Syracuse and UConn] did tonight."

Syracuse leaves the floor following its win over UConn.

Syracuse puts away UConn at the Garden, 72-63, behind the new Orange power trio of Tyus Battle (no surprise, 22 points), Matt Moyer (wait, 18?) and Oshae Brissett (16). The Garden was rocking, and the old Big East spectacle was there if you squinted, but, alas, the stakes were relatively modest this time around. Perhaps next time....

Moyer climbs the ladder for right-handed dunk (0:36)

Tyus Battle leads all scorers with 22 for Syracuse, but it's safe to say teammate Matt Moyer's been far more aggressive against UConn than his stats would lead one to expect. The 6-foot-8 sophomore is going to the rim with tenacity.

Jeff Borzello ESPN Staff Writer

Syracuse's Oshae Brissett has been one of the most surprising freshmen in the ACC. Has 16 and 10 tonight -- his fourth double-double of the season. Also played all 80 minutes in the last two games leading up to tonight.

UConn closed the half on a 9-3 run, but Syracuse still leads 40-29 at the intermission. Can the Huskies really get the job done on offense against the Cuse zone? Not if Kevin Ollie's guys continue to give the ball away on 36 percent of their trips. On the plus side for UConn, Jalen Adams is a perfect 4-of-4 from the floor.

John Gasaway ESPN Insider

With Matt Moyer and Oshae Brissette leading the way, Syracuse has deftly carved up the UConn 2-3 zone early. I suppose Jim Boeheim's players do see that defense from time to time in practice. Kevin Ollie noticed, and the Huskies are now in man.

John Gasaway ESPN Insider

If you missed it live, promise me you'll look up the put-back slam that Matt Moyer just recorded for Syracuse against UConn. You will not be disappointed. Goodness...

Nightcap tipping soon here at the Garden for the Jimmy V Classic. Syracuse and UConn will pit size (Paschal Chukwu and Marek Dolezaj for 'Case) against space (Jalen Adams, Terry Larrier and Christian Vital). A festive crowd's on hand and primed for some old-school Big East flavor from these ACC and American teams.

Graham's 35 carries No. 2 Kansas past Syracuse, 76-60

Devonte' Graham matched his career-high with 35 points for the second consecutive game, Lagerald Vick added 20 and No. 2 Kansas remained unbeaten by topping Syracuse 76-60 in the HoopHall Miami Invitational on Saturday night.

Devonte' Graham finished with 35 points on 7-of-13 shooting beyond the arc, as Kansas put away Syracuse 76-60 at the HoopHall Miami Invitational. If Graham keeps playing like this -- one year after Frank Mason III flashed much the same look (and statistical profile) -- Bill Self could be looking at back-to-back Wooden Award winners.

Devonte' Graham's personal 14-4 run to close out the first half against Syracuse has the Jayhawks up 35-21 on the Orange in Miami. Graham has already recorded 16 points and four assists with just two turnovers. Meanwhile Tyus Battle is 0-of-6 from beyond the arc for Jim Boeheim's team.
