Late flagrant helps Arkansas down Seton Hall

No. 8 Arkansas beats No. 9 Seton Hall 77-71, but the ViewFromVegas is that it was an upset as Seton Hall closed as a consensus 1-point favorite here in Las Vegas (7 of 13 sports book operators). After it was a back-and-forth battle throughout, Arkansas benefitted from a controversial Flagrant 1 foul call late in the game that helped the Razorbacks pull away. The extra two free throws also helped the game climb over the betting total of 147 points.

No. 8 seed Arkansas advances to face winner of No. 1 seed North Carolina-No. 16 seed Texas Southern with 77-71 win over No. 9 seed Seton Hall. Razorbacks last two tournament appearances (2008, 2015) were ended by the Tar Heels.

Arkansas advances with a close, semi-controversial win over Seton Hall. Razorbacks will almost certainly play North Carolina next. An upset there would mean first Sweet 16 appearance since 1996 -- Nolan Richardson Days.

We now officially have our worst call of the tournament, in which the officials call a soft "flagrant" on Seton Hall and all but decide a one-possession game in the final seconds. What a joke.

Seton Hall defense had tightened up as the game entered crunch time and Razorbacks look lost offensively. It's been a bunch of dribbling but no real direction on what to do.

Arkansas guard Dusty Hannahs was trying to lobby official Doug Simmons by demonstrating with his hand how he was pushed. Simmons seemed offended Hannahs touched him. Razorbacks in general getting too caught up in fouls that go against them.

Seton Hall's Angel Delgado & Michael Nzei controlling the offensive boards helping to grab half of their misses. But Pirates not converting those putbacks at a high enough clip (scoring on 37% of their rebounds) that's why they're trailing.

Moses Kingsley already has eight points for Arkansas. He was held to 8 total in two of his last three games in the SEC tournament. Razorbacks are a much better team when he's engaged offensively.

Seton Hall reserve forward Rashed Anthony was examined in the tunnel after taking a hard fall and hitting his head on the floor. He shook hands with Kevin Willard and took a seat on the bench so he must not have a concussion.

Arkansas establishing a faster pace, Seton Hall unaffected now, but it may have an impact in the second half if they aren't able to slow it down. Pirates generally only play about seven players.
