South Carolina defense really forcing Baylor into some crazy shots. No surprise they aren't going in frequently. Gamecocks offense, though, can't take advantage early

Somewhat sparse crowd overall inside the Garden for tonight's first game, but it is a decidedly South Carolina crowd. Gamecocks fans quite vocal.

South Carolina allows fewest paint points in the country but that's not stopping Baylor. Dumping ball inside almost every possession. Gamecocks collapsing and making it tough.

Baylor has a small section of fans at Madison Square Garden, but the cheers from the crowd -- from large pockets throughout the arena -- make it sound as though this South Carolina-Baylor game is in Columbia, SC. The Garden isn't near full yet and Gamecock fans are making themselves heard.

Baylor uniforms really do glow in the dark.

The lights that ring Madison Square Garden are lit in the colors of the four teams playing here tonight. They normally are orange and blue on nights the Knicks play, and red, white and blue when the Rangers play inside.

South Carolina alum Myles Hilliard remembers the days when South Carolina basketball wasn't even close to the Sweet 16. Now he's come to NYC from Chicago to see the Gamecocks in the Sweet 16.

If Florida and South Carolina win tonight in the Sweet 16, Sunday's potential Elite 8 matchup would mark just the third time in NCAA Tournament history that SEC teams will face each other. Both of the previous occasions happened in 1986. Kentucky beat Alabama in the Sweet 16 and LSU beat Kentucky in the Elite 8 that year.

Is this Columbia, South Carolina? Nope, just hundreds of Gamecock fans packed into a crowded bar in NYC getting ready for their team's Sweet 16 game against Baylor tonight.

The man of the hour at the South Carolina pregame gathering at the Mason Jar in NYC is former NBA player and former Gamecock Renaldo Balkman. He can't go a minute without being mobbed by fans telling him their stories or asking for pictures.

Insiders: Gamecocks must protect the rim

Baylor is a long, athletic bunch. And if Frank Martin's troops let the Bears get rolling in Friday's Sweet 16 matchup, they could be hard to stop.
