UConn coach Kevin Ollie on adding Wichita State: "Wichita State is just a tremendous addition to our league. Coach Marshall's program is all about winning championships. Year in and year out, they are nationally ranked and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament. I know next season, they are already being projected as a top 10 team. In men's basketball, the American Conference just went up a level."

The AAC will stay with 18 conference games; 4 1-plays 7 home/homes with the addition of Wichita State.

To bring in a program that has had such success and been to six straight NCAA Tournaments will be great for the American Athletic Conference. What Gregg Marshall has done at Wichita State has been impressive and we are excited to have the Shockers join The American."

Kentucky's defense is key to win streak (1:43)
Calipari breaks down 'grind-it-out game' against Wichita State (2:10)

John Gasaway ESPN Insider

Despite what you've heard, the team Kentucky just beat had an excellent offense. That means the Wildcats really are much better on defense than they were earlier in the season. Two shot-blocks in the final 13 seconds by Bam Adebayo and Malik Monk (yes, Malik Monk) capped off an impressive effort by UK, which held the Shockers to 62 points in 62 possessions.

Eamonn Brennan ESPN Staff Writer

All year John Calipari has been asking -- which is to say desperately pleading with -- Malik Monk to help Kentucky win in ways other than made shots. He did that today at a crucial point, yet another key piece of a UK team that has really figured out how to defend.

Myron Medcalf ESPN Staff Writer

Kentucky had its struggles. But the team's three pros (Bam Adebayo, De'Aaron Fox, Malik Monk) made the shots and recorded the big plays next-level guys make. How would Kentucky respond against adversity facing a scrappy team? That was the question entering the game. Kentucky answered with a fantastic finish and win.

Jeff Goodman ESPN Insider

Kentucky wins it with defense. That was one heck of a game -- and victory for the Cats against Wichita State.
