This is turning into a little bit of a best-case scenario for Joe Maddon, since he hasn't had to burn through his bullpen. Jake Arrieta is at 89 pitches and Maddon said before the game that Wade Davis is available for multiple innings. You have to think he's hoping he only has to use those two the rest of the way. If somebody else gets in the game, it's probably not good news for the Cubs.

Uneven outing for the Dodgers' Alex Wood. Struck out seven but the Cubs didn't get cheated on any of the three solo homers they hit so you have to wonder if Wood's command was a tick off. But it's still just a two-run game.

From 0-for-the-postseason to two home runs and a curtain call in a must-win NLCS Game 4, the story of Javier Baez's October has taken a drastic turn tonight at Wrigley Field.

Outside of one pitch that Cody Bellinger drove over the right-field wall, Jake Arrieta is doing his part on a night when the wind is blowing out at Wrigley. With Wade Davis available for multiple innings tonight, a deep outing from Arrieta to get to the closer would go a long ways toward extending the Cubs' season for at least another day.

Willson Contreras' home run was measured at 491 feet by Statcast, the longest postseason HR since 2015.

And all of a sudden, Wrigley. Is. Rocking. Not long after Willson Contreras played ping-pong with the left-field scoreboard, Javier Baez hooked a home run just inside the foul pole to put the Cubs up in a must-win NLCS Game 4.

When you hit a ball like the one Willson Contreras just hit, you can't be blamed for stopping to watch it fly. With an absolute bomb off the left-center field scoreboard, the catcher has given the desperate Cubs a 1-0 NLCS Game 4 lead and brought some life to Wrigley Field.

A nervous start for Cubs fans as leadoff hitter Chris Taylor just missed a home run to straightaway center field on a ball hauled in by Albert Almora Jr. for the first out of NLCS Game 4.

You don't need to be looking at the cage to know when Yasiel Puig is up during batting practice. Everything the Dodgers outfielder hits is loud and far.

Clayton Kershaw on the importance of Andre Ethier to the Dodgers' success: "I love Dre, man. He's awesome."

Dan Mullen ESPN.com

When asked the biggest things Dave Roberts has done since taking over as Dodgers manager, Clayton Kershaw immediately answered that getting through to Yasiel Puig and bringing out the best in the slugger is at the top of the list.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

Clayton Kershaw is the scheduled Game 5 starter and he admits he's in a little bit of a tough spot. He can't anticipate that the Dodgers will finish off the sweep. "I have to expect to pitch and be surprised when we win," he said. "Hopefully it doesn't work out and I won't have to pitch."

Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw is speaking to the media at Wrigley Field. Kershaw is either a few hours from celebrating his first World Series appearance or about 26 hours from taking the mound in Game 5 of the NLCS.

Yasiel Puig has had a tremendous postseason, hitting .429 with a .538 OBP. "He's really bought into how important every pitch is," Dave Roberts said. Roberts described how it's been a season-long process. Indeed, Puig improved from a .777 OPS in the first half to .374 in the second half as his strikeout-to-walk improved from 62-33 to 38-31. A disciplined Puig is now a more dangerous hitter.

Dave Roberts on the mind-set of the Red Sox when they were down 3 games to 0 to the Yankees in the 20O4 ALCS: "I think that was a once in a lifetime thing," he said with a little grin.

Joe Maddon says that his hope is to save Jon Lester for a start if the series gets back to Los Angeles with Jake Arrieta starting tonight and Jose Quintana slated if there is a Game 5 tomorrow in Chicago. But the Cubs manager added that 'anything can happen' if it gets far enough along tonight. Both John Lackey and Wade Davis are available for multiple innings tonight.

Dan Mullen ESPN.com

Chicago pitcher Jose Quintana says the Cubs got together as a team and talked today ahead of a must-win Game 4 at Wrigley. The message? One game at a time.

Como informamos, Willson Contreras está en la alineación de los Cachorros para su partido de eliminación contra los Dodgers esta noche en Wrigley Field.
