Reports: All-Star Kintzler agrees with Nationals

Brandon Kintzler, an All-Star selection with the Twins before he was traded to the Nationals last season, has agreed to a two-year deal with Washington, according to reports.

Twins skipper Paul Molitor talks about Michael Pineda, who inked a two-year deal with Minnesota. The former Yankees hurler underwent Tommy John surgery in July.

Brandon Kintzler, who saved 29 games for the Twins this year before going to Washington at the trade deadline and pitching in a setup role, is attracting a crowd on the free agent market. The Cubs, Twins, Diamondbacks, Nationals and Rangers are among the teams with interest. If the Cubs sign Kintzler on top of the Brandon Morrow deal, it will mean they've officially moved on from Wade Davis.

Morris, Trammell make Baseball Hall of Fame

Former Tigers teammates Jack Morris and Alan Trammell were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Modern Baseball Era Committee after previously falling short of induction to Cooperstown.

David Schoenfield ESPN Senior Writer

The debate over Jack Morris was one of the most contentious in Hall of Fame history, and while the writers ultimately rejected Morris, he's now going to Cooperstown -- and he'll be joined by Alan Trammell, his longtime Tigers teammate. Morris and Trammell were elected by the 16-person Modern Era Ballot committee. Trammell should have been elected long ago, a player who ranked eighth all time among shortstops in WAR. Morris doesn't have much of an analytic case with a 3.90 career ERA, but he does have Game 7 of the 1991 World Series. This time, that was enough to get him the support he needed.

The Mariners traded catcher David Banuelos to the Twins for $1 million in international slot money -- just in case a little additional cash will help them to convince Shohei Ohtani to head to the Pacific Northwest. Of the seven finalists, the Rangers have the most bonus money to offer at $3.535 million while the Mariners can now offer $2.57 million. That probably won't be a deciding factor for Ohtani, but it certainly can't hurt. Banuelos was the team's fifth-round pick in 2017 out of Long Beach State and hit .236/.331/.394 at Class A Everett. He's regarded as a strong defensive catcher.

Mariners, Angels add cash for pursuit of Ohtani

In separate deals, the Mariners and Angels each sent a prospect to the Twins in return for $1 million in international bonus allocations. The two teams are among seven teams still being considered by Japanese star Shohei Ohtani.

Hot stove stock watch: Twins

Rather than regression eating into the Twins' 2016-to-2017 leap, their win projection gets a boost, making them a solid prime contender.

One key move for the Twins this offseason

The surprising Twins ranked just 22nd in WAR (7.7) for starting pitchers. An affordable free-agent pitcher with high upside looks like a perfect fit.

Twins add three players to 40-man roster

The Minnesota Twins added RHP Zack Littell and LHPs Stephen Gonsalves and Lewis Thorpe to the team's 40-man roster on Monday. Littell finished the 2017 season with Double-A Chattanooga, Gonsalves with Triple-A Rochester and Thorpe with high-A Fort Myers.

Will Jose Berrios be baseball's next superace?

Berrios' stuff is absolutely electric at times, especially that wiffle ball-like curveball that batters hit .220/.254/.306 against. He needs to work on his changeup, however.
