Gray delivers powerful performance against Marlins (0:26)

Tristan H. Cockcroft ESPN Senior Writer

That's the third consecutive quality start by Sonny Gray, it's only the third time in his career he has recorded double-digit strikeouts and he has 19 K's compared to three walks in his past two turns. Better yet: those two opponents (Red Sox, Marlins) are not traditionally known as strikeout-heavy offenses. Intrigued, I am.

Revisiting preseason questions: Athletics

In mid-February, we wondered if Oakland could rebound from an ugly defensive season in 2016. So far, the A's are on pace to post similar, if not worse, numbers.

ESPN Stats and Information

A's 2B Chad Pinder slugs a 389-footer just out of the park during Sunday's matchup against the Red Sox.

ESPN Stats and Information

Two Oakland players were atop the home-run list on Saturday by blasting balls more than 450 feet. Chad Pinder's 483-foot bomb was the longest homer hit in the MLB so far this season.

A's hit 4 home runs to beat Red Sox for 3rd straight win

Chad Pinder hit a monster home run and Khris Davis and Mark Canha also connected in the fifth inning, and the Oakland Athletics cleared the fences four times in all to beat the Boston Red Sox 8-3 on Saturday for their third straight win.

ESPN Stats and Information

The Athletics hit their 3 longest HR of 2017 in the bottom of the 5th inning Saturday against the Red Sox.

ESPN Stats and Information

Chad Pinder's 483-ft HR is the longest by an Athletics player since ESPN began tracking HR in 2009. The Athletics have said they believe it's only the 3rd HR hit into the plaza reserve, joining Mark McGwire in 1996 and Larry Walker in 1999. McGwire (583) and Walker (383) combined for 966 major-league home runs. Pinder now has 5

ESPN Stats and Information

He's gone yard only twice this season, but Mark Canha has made both count. Three days after providing the final margin of victory with a three-run shot in the ninth, Canha's 10th-inning shot carried the A's over the Red Sox.

ESPN Stats and Information

Kris Bryant's rocket to dead center never reached 70 feet in the air, but it was still the longest in MLB on Thursday. Yasiel Puig wasn't too far behind, while John Jaso, Chad Pinder and Seth Smith round out the list.
