Dylan Bundy helped Baltimore avoid a dubious pitching record by throwing seven solid innings as the Orioles beat the Tampa Bay Rays 8-3 on Saturday.

Wilson Ramos' activation from the DL to slot in immediately behind the plate for the Rays might seem surprising since it triggered the DFA of Derek Norris, especially when injuries have pressed DH Corey Dickerson into action in LF. But Ramos did throw out 2 of 7 SB attempts in nine minor-league rehab starts behind the plate. If he's ready to both catch and rake -- big if's -- he'll give the Rays' offense another big righty bat to balance against the huge years lefties Logan Morrison and Dickerson are delivering.
The Rays are without Kevin Kiermaier in center, but they're still getting above-average contributions from every position but second base this season.
Morrison is swinging less often this year, but he's missing more often. In other words: Swing hard, hope you hit the ball in the air and watch it go over the fence.
The Rays designated Derek Norris for assignment after Friday's 15-5 win over the Orioles to make room for Wilson Ramos, who was activated before Saturday's game.
Baltimore fell 15-5 to Tampa Bay as Orioles pitchers allowed at least five runs for the 20th consecutive game, tying a major league record set by the 1924 Philadelphia Phillies.
Rays' Rasmus put on DL
The Tampa Bay Rays placed OF Colby Rasmus (left hip tendinitis) on the 10-day disabled list Friday, retroactive to June 19. OF Shane Peterson has been selected from Triple-A Durham to fill his roster spot.
The hypothetical trade value right now with No. 4 overall pick Brendan McKay would be huge.
Tampa Bay left fielder Mallex Smith rushed in to tag out speedy Billy Hamilton after a lengthy rundown, highlighting the Rays' 8-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday.
Corey Dickerson went deep, Alex Cobb threw seven solid innings and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-5 on Tuesday night.
Scott Schebler and Scooter Gennett homered and Joey Votto snapped an eighth-inning tie with an RBI single, helping the Cincinnati Reds end a season-high nine-game losing streak with a 7-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night.
Plouffe to make Rays debut
Trevor Plouffe will make his first appearance in a Rays uniform Monday night, hitting seventh in the order as a DH vs. the Reds. The veteran 3B was acquired by the Rays over the weekend, for cash considerations, after being designated for assignment by the Athletics on Thursday.
Brendan McKay believes he can do what no player since Babe Ruth has done in major league baseball -- pitch and hit. He did it in Louisville's first College World Series game to minimal success. Is refusing to choose one over the other the right choice?
Logan Morrison homered twice and Steven Souza Jr. hit his first career grand slam as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Detroit Tigers 9-1 Sunday to split a four-game series.
