Wade out vs. Hawks with left knee soreness

Dwyane Wade will sit out Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Hawks because of soreness in his left knee, Cleveland Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said before tipoff.

Lonzo Ball looked up at the famous ceiling at Madison Square Garden and soaked it all in during his first morning shootaround at the arena. Ball has only been to New York twice — the only other time was for the draft — and tonight will be his first game at the Mecca of basketball. Ball says he's mostly stayed in his hotel room outside of making an appearance at a Big Baller Brand pop-up store to sign autographs for thousands of fans who braved the cold on Sunday. It's a big week for the rookie. Besides making his Garden debut, he faces LeBron James, his favorite player growing up, on Thursday for the first time. "Every kid dreams about playing (at the Garden), just because of all the history and all the battles," Ball said. "It's going to be a lot of fun (this week). The Garden, all the history there and then Lebron, best player in the world. Definitely two challenges, and I look forward to it."

LeBron James is not expecting too much out of Tristan Thompson too soon, as the big man returns from a six-week absence this week. "He has to get his wind back, he has to get his rhythm back," James said. "I don't think it's gonna be like, right now, boom. So, um, but we're happy to have him back for sure. He's a big piece of our team. He's going to be a big piece of our team long term. We've got to get him back, get him integrated to what we're doing."

LeBron James says he's "probably" playing more center this season than he has in his 15-year career. He says 8-9 years ago he couldn't have envisioned this, but once he joined the Heat, it became a part of his repertoire. "When I went to Miami it was 1 through 5," James said. "After our first year in Miami Spo (Erik Spoelstra) was like, ‘Let's 1 through 5, whatever I need you to do, we've got to try to make it happen.' I played 1 through 5 a lot down there."

Both Kevin Love (left hip) and Tristan Thompson (left calf) are officially listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. So long as they come through pregame workouts OK, per the Cavs, they will play.

The Cleveland Cavaliers finished their win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday on a 22-12 run and LeBron James scored or assisted on all 22 of those points. According to Elias, that's the most points scored or assisted on for any player this season to close out a game. The last player with a larger streak to finish a game was Russell Westbrook with 28 on March 29, 2017 at Orlando in a game that included overtime. "I started the game 3-for-11, was missing some chippies, a couple shots went in and out, some floaters in the lane. That's just a byproduct of who I am," James said. "I don't need to score to be productive and to help win a game. I just stay with it. I was able to get to the free-throw line tonight. I was able to get some rebounds and teammates made some huge shots for me. That's a crazy stat, though. I didn't know that, that's for sure.” James finished with 30 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists for his 58th career triple-double.
