Vote: How did the Broncos do in the draft?

It will be years before we can accurately assess the Broncos' 2017 rookie class, but it's time to weigh in on how well the team used its draft resources.

The Broncos went into the third day of the draft in search of help on offense and all four picks Saturday were on that side of the ball. They also too two big gambles in those four picks -- that Michigan tight end Jake Butt's knee will heal and that Mississippi quarterback Chad Kelly can both get healthy and leave his past off-the-field troubles behind.

Broncos kicker Brandon McManus is a restricted free agent and has not signed his tender. Asked following the draft Saturday about McManus' status, John Elway said simply "I've got it up there when he wants to come sign it."

Elway vetted Mr. Irrelevant Kelly with Jim's help

Before using the draft's final pick on Ole Miss' Chad Kelly, Broncos GM John Elway said he reached out to the oft-troubled QB's uncle, Hall of Famer Jim Kelly, who called him "a good kid."

ESPN Stats and Information

In two career games against Alabama, Chad Kelly went 44-of-73 for 762 yards, seven touchdowns (one rushing) and no interceptions. The Rebels beat the Tide in their 2015 meeting, but the Tide rallied to win in 2016.

The Broncos did indeed take a quarterback with the 253rd, and final, pick of the draft -- Mississippi's Chad Kelly. He's a player with plenty of potential as a passer to go with some injury and off the field questions.

Jeff Legwold ESPN Senior Writer

The Broncos have the final pick of the draft -- 253rd overall -- and they have said they'd like a quarterback in this draft class. So, that's a possibility. While they could sign one as an undrafted rookie, they've seen Colorado's Sefo Liufau plenty , Central Michigan's Cooper Rush started 50 games in his career and Tiffin's Antonio Pipkin is an interesting small school player. Still think they should give Air Force wide receiver Jalen Robinette a long look, however.

ESPN Stats and Information

Two-time FCS All-American De'Angelo Henderson set an NCAA Division I record by scoring a touchdown in 35 consecutive games at Coastal Carolina. He left Myrtle Beach as the school's all-time leader in 10 rushing categories, including yards (4,635), TDs (58) and yards per carry (6.43).

The Broncos used the 203rd pick of the draft to select Coastal Carolina running back De'Angelo Henderson. Henderson scored a touchdown in a record 35 consecutive games during his career.

Jeff Legwold ESPN Senior Writer

Personally, I think it would be a great thing if the Broncos used their final pick of the day, and the draft's final pick, to select Air Force wide receiver Jalen Robinette no matter if Robinette can, or can't, receive a waiver to play in 2017. They could place him on reserve/military and wait. Think that works for everybody and if Robinette is allowed to play in the upcoming season the Broncos get a quality developmental player.

McKenzie adds speed to Broncos' WR corps

A true junior, Isaiah McKenzie is vastly undersized, showing raw route-running ability and average ball skills. However he has the burst to quickly separate and he's a threat to go the distance whenever he touches the ball as a receiver/return man.

Jeff Legwold ESPN Senior Writer

The Broncos moved up to pick No. 172, from No. 175, to select Georgia wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie. McKenzie is another possible returner who had six return touchdowns in his college career -- five on punts and one kickoff.

The Broncos selected Michigan tight end Jake Butt with the 145th pick of the draft. Butt tore his right ACL in the Wolverines' bowl game earlier this year -- the same ACL he tore in 2014. But he's a player who likely would have been among draft's first 30 picks without the most recent injury.

ESPN Stats and Information

Two-time All-American Jake Butt left Michigan as one of the program's most decorated tight ends, garnering both Ozzie Newsome and John Mackey Awards as the nation's top tight end. He's the Wolverines' all-time leader in catches (135) and yards (1,618) by a tight end.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

That's a good fit for TE Jake Butt going to the Broncos and Mike McCoy's offense. Run the seam, the corner route and use his size in the middle of the field. High-percentage throws to get him the ball. Route running.

Broncos draft Butt to open Round 5

Jake Butt tore his right ACL against Florida State in the Orange Bowl and consequently hasn't worked out for NFL teams. Beyond the medical concern, he needs to get stronger, but he has good size, potential and is a dependable receiver who knows how to get open.

As the Broncos pick approaches at top of the fifth round, the running back board has taken a hit already today as six have been selected in the fourth round.

Broncos' second-round pick DeMarcus Walker at the team's complex today. Asked him about his decision to stay at Florida State for his senior year and he said "I was happy to be able to consider coming out (as a junior), but my mom, she wasn't going to play that. She wanted me to leave with my degree, with that paper." Walker stayed and earned his degree in social science in three and a half years. "So, now we're all happy. I'm glad I did it, glad I put in the work."

Broncos have made second trade of the day -- this time with Cleveland. The Broncos sent the Browns picks No. 128 and No. 252 and received No. 145 and No. 175 -- both fifth rounders.

Jeff Legwold ESPN Senior Writer

As the Broncos pick approaches -- 126th overall -- three running backs already off the board today.
