Alula makes every effort to ensure that Touchpads ship sufficiently charged to power up even after a long sit on a distribution shelf or the back of a cold, cold truck. Reports from the field indicate that there are instances the Touchpad does not immediately boot up once connected to power. This article outlines a few steps and precautions to take when dealing with a blank black screen.
If powering up Touchpad’s before arriving on site (e.g. bench testing them), make sure to power them down using the “Power Down” option so they do not stay running because that will drain the battery. Note that powering down a Touchpad while still connected to 12V will cause the Touchpad to reboot automatically.
In some cases, shortly after power up, the display will go dark if the touchpad is not enrolled into a panel. Tap the screen to wake the display.
In rare cases a Touchpads battery may be so far depleted additional steps are required to power on. The steps outlined can be used to recover a Touchpad in this state.
1. Ensure the Touchpad has been connected to a known-good power source for at least 5 minutes.
2. Locate the pinhole on the top of the tablet. The pinhole conceals the power button. Using a paperclip depress the button for 20 seconds.
3. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Press and hold the power button again for 2-3 seconds.
5. If the Touchpad does not power on after these steps check the power connection and leave the Touchpad connected for at least 20 minutes. Repeat the steps above. Contact our support if issues persist.
